Honestly, girl’s nights are few and far between these days and I’m lucky that I’m actually squeezing one in this Friday night. WOOHOO! If you’re young or young at heart and going to the bars is your thing, then today is probably not for you. I’m over that stage in my life and when I do get a night to myself with my gal pals the last thing I want to do is not be able to hear them and just people watch and have random dudes start talking to me. No, the wedding ring doesn’t 100% deter. And gone are the days when you can just grab a bite to eat on a whim…at least for me! So things have to be planned out and put on my calendar. With that said, here are my top 6 Girl’s Night Out places in Austin!

  • Fredericksburg: Fredericksburg is probably one of my favorite places. Now you’re probably wondering how this is a “place in Austin”…well, obviously it’s not! But, it’s so incredibly close to Austin at about an hour and half away and it’s a perfect place to go shopping, wine tasting, and to have a great meal. I recently went for a girlfriend’s birthday and we had a blast! It makes the “Austin List” because it’s just that damn awesome!
  • Painting with a Twist: So many people rant and rave about Painting with a Twist. Not only is it BYOB so keeps down on the cost, but you also get something out of it at the end… a painting…by you! There are several locations to choose from to accommodate your favorite girls.
  • Benji’s Cantina: So I haven’t actually been to Benji’s which is a twist {not painting} on Tex-Mex, but I’ve heard so many great things about their menu, service, and overall vibe. A great thing about Benji’s is that they are located on West 6th Street so if you did want to check out a few “age-appropriate” bars, you are already in the right place! And don’t get me wrong… I still secretly love the non-age appropriate bars too… so you can too 🙂
  • The Domain: The Domain is a great spot for a girl’s night! Not only can you do a little bit of shopping while you are there, but there are seriously SO MANY eateries to choose from! There’s Cru, which is a wine bar, North Restaurant, Kona Grill, Fleming’s, and everything in between. The Domain is super lively at night and always has something fun going on.
  • The Goodnight: The Goodnight is fairly new and I haven’t had the chance to check it out, but I loved love loved Highball on South Lamar and it seems like the Goodnight is a similar atmosphere with pool tables, bowling, food, alcohol, etc. It’s definitely not the average out to dinner kind of night and would for sure be a good time with the girls. I look forward to checking this place out since it’s centrally located and could accommodate my friends who live North and South.
  • Whole Foods Cooking Class: Again, definitely not the average night. Whole Foods on Lamar has offers amazing culinary classes. Coming up on September 6th they are even offering a “Girl’s Night Out” cooking class! How perfect! You can check out their calendar of cooking classes here.

Don’t get me wrong there are dozens of restaurants that I’m obsessed with in this town, but these are some super fun options that get you and the gals out doing something different! Gone are the days of grabbing a quick bite… we have kids, hello???!!

What’s your favorite thing to do out on the town with just the girls?
