As much as I don’t love to admit it sometimes, I can’t do it all. Having three kids, one of whom has special needs, and my own business to run means that I need a lot of back-up. Though my husband has graciously been the one to do the grocery shopping, meal planning, and cooking in our family, there are many days where we are running ragged between therapy appointments and extracurriculars. On such days, getting dinner on the table seems nearly impossible.

We recently had the opportunity to try Papa Murphy’s, and WHAT a lifesaver for us. If you’ve never heard of Papa Murphy’s, they are a delicious take and bake pizza (and other goodies!) shop with several locations throughout the Austin area. The closest to us was on Ranch Road 620 South in Lakeway, and working with them was a pleasant experience from the beginning. When I called to place our order, they guided me through the menu and helped me select options based on what would be best for our family. Here’s what we ended up with:

  • 1 Traditional Cheese Pizza
  • 1 Gluten Free Cheese Pizza (I love when restaurants have this option!)
  • 2 Kids Create Your Own Pizza Kits for my boys
  • One caesar salad
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Note: We are a family of five. Our kids are 14, 5, and 3.

Let’s start with the pizzas, themselves. Their menu boasts an extensive array of options to satisfy everyone in the family, including stuffed pizzas, meat pizzas, and veggie pizzas. Being vegetarian, we opted for cheese this time, but we will be back to try the veggie pizzas. There were some great ones that sounded delicious.

My boys are 5 and 3, and they LOVED getting to make their own cheese pizzas with the adorable Papa Murphy’s kids pizza kits. Spreading the sauce and sprinkling on the cheese was the highlight of their evenings. As a fun bonus, the pizza kits come with Papa Murphy’s tattoos that they had to immediately put on.

The caesar salad was also delicious. Even our kids agreed, and our daughter ended up eating the biggest serving. Anything to get them to eat more vegetables is a total win over here. The dessert cookie was also a fun treat to end the meal with, and such a clever idea on Papa Murphy’s part. They really looked forward to that!

We had an incredible experience with Papa Murphy’s and can’t say enough great things about their customer service, their professionalism, and their delicious menu. We will absolutely be regulars, and it’s so refreshing to find a terrific (and delicious!) business that can save our sanity during those crazy days!
