Z’Tejas Mexican Restaurant and Grill

Enchiladas y Mas
Enchiladas y Mas is known for their award winning enchiladas, but be sure to also try their super strong margaritas which you can get in a small or large. Couple it with their fajita tacos. Their service is fast in dining as well as To Go orders.
El Arroyo
El Arroyo is a staple on West 5th Street in Downtown Austin with its witty signage out front. They have delicious margaritas including the Pink Margarita which has a splash of prickly pear.
Fonda San Miguel
The margaritas at Fonda San Miguel are works of art similar to their beautiful old building. Try the Silver Coin Margarita or the Numero Uno Margarita made with agave nectar. Happy Hour is on Mon, Tues, Wed, Thur 5pm to 7pm, at the bar or atrium only, with half price quesadillas/tostada compuestas and $1 off tequila and tequila cocktails.
Workhorse Bar
Workhorse Bar has a great laid back vibe, great prices, and a solid margarita featuring Paula’s Texas Orange and fresh squeezed lime and agave nectar, and even welcomes dogs on the patio. They offer happy hour ALL DAY, and be sure to try the fried pickles!
La Margarita
La Margarita located in Round Rock right off I-35 has a large selection of tequila choices and signature margaritas including the delicious beerrita – a large frozen margarita with a 7 oz Corona or XX sticking out of the glass.
El Monumento
El Monumento in Georgetown has a large variety of margaritas including the Jalepeno Margarita and the Cucumber Margarita. This great restaurant has authentic Mexican flavor with a contemporary twist.
Flores Mexican Restaurant
Flores has several locations in and around Austin including Four Points and Dripping Springs. They have a vast variety of margaritas including the Crushed Margarita and should also try their Strawberry Paloma. Their To Go menu is very large in case you want to pick up and sip that margarita at home.
Maudie’s Cafe
With multiple locations around Austin, Maudie’s Cafe has a ton of delicious margaritas to try, including blackberry mint, cucumber basil, and a jalapeno skinny margarita! They also have fun options like frozen swirl margaritas, and frozen floater margaritas.
El Alma Cafe y Cantina
El Alma’s has an amazing rooftop patio and an several different choices of margaritas, including an Avacadorita and a Pinarita. Happy hour is every day from 3-6 pm, with discounted appetizers and drinks. You can get orders to go as well as pitchers of their awesome margaritas.
Edge Rooftop Bar
Edge is serving $5 off all margaritas, five stories up for National Margarita Day! Grab your BFFs or significant other and head to Edge to enjoy the best downtown views while sipping on a Soco Marg (Termana Blanco, Luxardo Orange, salted watermelon, lime, agave). Complement your cocktail with Edge’s ever-so-popular Sweet Corn Fundido and Homemade Guacamole.
Guero’s Taco Bar is another Austin staple serving interior Mexican food with a hint of Tex-Mex. and they mean it. Try The Longhorn margarita or The Blue Nectar – they have too many to list. Go early to grab a seat and enjoy some live music at the Oak Garden Stage.
Polvos Mexican Restaurant
Polvo’s is known for cold and strong margaritas, and has an extensive drink menu complete with pitchers of ritas to share in the joy. Be sure to try them during happy hour Monday – Friday.
Matt’s Famous El Rancho
Matt’s Famous El Rancho is a classic Tex-Mex Austin staple, with a family friendly atmosphere and a fantastic patio and large open classic wooden bar. Check out the Bob Armstrong, their legendary queso and chips. Matt’s offers various color and flavor combinations, as well as the classic margarita.
Jack Allen’s Kitchen
Their Texan comfort food pairs well with their Black Cherry frozen Margarita or try the Ruta Rita…a frozen marg with a floater of Ruta 22 Malbec. Yummy. They also have a large To Go order including some of their cocktails to go.
Curra’s Grill
Curra’s frozen avocado margarita is well known in Austin. It is a must try for every margarita enthusiast. They have a yummy Mex-Martini as well as a fantastic Ranch Water. Curra’s also offers an amazing salsa sampler and perfect tamales. They have been around for over 25 years and offer To Go drinks with purchase of food.
Chuy’s
Chuy’s specializes in Tex-Mex and margartias, and has plenty to choose from! They have ritas on the rocks, frozen, swirled, and dot. Try Grand Ma’s Rockin Rita in a pint glass if you’re feeling adventurous! Chuy’s new Mexican Martini is another reason to celebrate!
Fresa’s Chicken
Happy hour is Monday-Friday, from 3- 6 pm, with $2 off margaritas which applies to dine in, drive-thru, walk-up AND online orders! The Frozen Avocado Margarita is an Austin Moms Team favorite! Pro Tip: Ask for chili spice on the rim instead of salt–you’re welcome!
The Little Darlin’ is a chill mix of bar, outside patio, and music venue. Try the Mango Fandango, a blend of mango with margarita fixins’. Such a quaint and inviting atmostphere to grab a bite and a delicious drink. They also have take To Go orders including margarita mixers and Lulas Frozen.
Iron Cactus
Iron Cactus boasts some of the best Tex-Mex in Austin and a rooftop dining area claiming to have the best Happy Hour in downtown Austin. Try the Clarita or the Frose, or any of their other amazing margarita options!
The Oasis on Lake Travis
The Oasis on Lake Travis is a must visit for the view, the atmosphere, and the margaritas can’t be beat! Try the Perfect Meltdown Margarita or the Beer Margarita. Get there at just the right time during happy hour to watch the Texas sun go down over Lake Travis.
Gloria’s Latin Cuisine
Gloria’s offers Salvadorian style fine cuisine, and is another top choice for margaritas in Austin. They have happy hour from 11 am – 10 pm Monday-Wednesday, and 11 am-7 pm Thursday-Friday. They have one of the best margarita menus around, including multiple skinny options and fresh exciting flavors including the Ginger Margarita.
Otopia Rooftop
Prepare for an unforgettable celebration at Otopia as the rooftop teams up with Dulce Vida for National Margarita Day on February 22. Indulge in the Marg-mosa (Dulce Vida Jalapeno Tequila, lime juice, agave, pineapple juice, Brut), the Strawberry Mint Margarita (Dulce Vida Tequila, lime juice, agave, strawberry Oleo, mint) for $9 or shots of Dulce Vida Tequila for $7 while listening to the live DJ from 7:30 – 10:30 PM.
Santa Rita Tex Mex Cantina
Santa Rita has great salsa, great service, and their frozen Mango Margarita is fantastic. They are located at 1206 W. 38th St. Austin TX 78705.
Lupe Tortilla
With four locations in the Austin area, Lupe Tortilla is a must! They offer an extensive list of margarita creations, but you just can’t go wrong with Lupe’s Original Frozen. Bonus points: they have a great vegetarian menu!
Bouldin Acres
Located on S Lamar, Bouldin Acres has an awesome outdoor area for the whole family. Happy Hour is Monday-Thursday 3-6PM with $2 off all appetizers, burgers, & drinks! An Austin Moms Team go-to is the Bould’n Boozy- Casamigos Blanco Tequila, Lime Juice, Agave, Mint, & Jalapeño-yum!
