Happy hour isn’t just for the suits anymore; Costco-pants-wearing moms and dads and little climbers can partake, too. There are plenty of family-friendly happy hours in all parts of the city.

South Austin

Oasthouse

It’s hard to compete with a restaurant that has happy hour every day of the week, has a fenced-in playground and adjacent beer garden, AND serves a Nutella and strawberry sandwich on their kids’ menu. The new north location also hosts the same happy hour days/times and specials, and is adjacent to a city park playground.

Easy Tiger S. Lamar

Nestled behind a nondescript strip mall on South Lamar, Easy Tiger has something for everyone: amazing views of the greenbelt, a shaded kid zone park, freshly baked bread, and over 30 beers on tap. Happy hour overlaps the witching hour every weekday, so come give yourself a break!

Waterloo Ice House

Both the Circle C and Southpark Meadows locations of Waterloo Ice House have adjacent playgrounds (though as of this writing, the Southpark Meadows playground is still under construction for what feels like 84 years) in full view of the dining room, and offer kids’ breakfast all day, because who doesn’t like pancakes for dinner? The 360/2222 location also has an outdoor patio and playground, while the Burnet Rd. location does not. Happy Hours, however, are consistent across all locations.

Peached Tortilla

Asian comfort food meets Southern charm at Burnet Rd’s Peached Tortilla, even for the littlest peaches, who can get brisket tacos or tofu rice bowls instead of pizza and tendies. The “social hour” menu includes a lot of unique drinks and snacks you won’t find anywhere else, but you can enjoy on the patio before the blaze of summer.
