I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a lot of brain cells left these days. Between a full-time job {outside the home}, a husband, 2 kids, a home to run…there’s just not a lot of space left in there. So when it comes to snacks for my kids, I want quick, easy, and healthy. I also have to have a lot of options because I have one child who will eat a variety of foods and another that eats not much of anything!

Now I know we all know how to cut up some fruit, so here are some other snacks that are kid-approved in my house!

1. Ants on a Log – People forget about this oldie but goodie, but it’s an easy one to make – peanut butter inside a celery stalk with raisins on top. Drew also loves sunflower butter, and it’s probably my favorite too, so you can definitely get adventurous with this one!

2. Hummus and Pita Chips/Veggies – I have friends who are surprised my daughter eats hummus and veggies. I don’t really understand why it’s surprising. Hummus is SO delicious! Drew goes to town with bell pepper or pita chips in a glob on hummus on her high chair. Super messy but very easy and nutritious!

3. Lara Bars – What I love about Lara bars are the ingredients. It is literally nuts and dates. No hidden ingredients, no sugar, no preservatives. Many a day a Lara bar might be my breakfast too!

Drew says 'Yum, yum!'
Drew says ‘Yum, yum!’

4. Freeze-Dried Fruit – Be careful when you are buying dried fruit. A lot of time it has added sugar {I’m looking at you cranberries.} We love the ‘Just’ brand in our house – Just Strawberries, Just Peaches, and Just Apples are some of our favorites.

5. Fruit Pouch – I know, I know…this is baby food. But for my picky eater with some sensory processing needs, this is a super easy way to get him to eat his fruits and vegetables. They can be a little pricey {especially when said boy is eating 5 of them a day}, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything quicker to throw in your bag than some pouches!

Sometimes we wear our pouches. {grin}

6. Cheese and fruit kabobs – Everyone loves fruit and cheese – why not stick it together on a kabob stick and make it a little more fun? You can even cut the fruit into shapes {think watermelon stars} to really get your kids excited about snack time.

7. Homemade popsicles – This is another recipe I can get the picky eater to enjoy. You can google recipes all day, but all I do is throw some fruit and some spinach in the blender and then pour it into popsicle molds {Here’s the one I have from Amazon}, stick in the freezer for a few hours and voila! Instant snack with lots of fruits and veggies.

What are your favorite quick, easy and healthy snacks?
