Family Friendly Guide to SXSW Music 2019

It’s that time of year again! Bluebonnets, Spring break and of course SXSW!

SXSW is great in that it offers something for everyone– including kids! If you’re wondering where you can catch some live music for the whole family, here are the events which we recommend:

SXSWEdu has a plethora of offerings for parents, teachers and anyone interested in education. Come check out the Idea Public Schools Lounge to see what College For All looks like, refreshments are served and there are prizes to be won!

Live music at the Hive. The Hive hosts live music on Saturday mornings, and this week (March 10th), will feature Hey Lolly performing at 10 a.m. More information about events at the Hive can be found here.

Do512 Family Get Down. March 10th from 1-4 p.m at the Scottish Rite Theater. Activities include live music, puppet and magic shows and a dance party. RSVP required. For more info, click here.

9th Annual South by South Austin Fried Chicken Revival. This free event at Lucy’s Fried Chicken will take place March 13-17th. Kids are always welcome. Full details here.

KUTX live at the Four Seasons.  This early morning music series runs from March 13th-16th. No badge is required but entry is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Admission to the main show is $15 per adult and $5 for children 12 and under which includes admission to the main show, a breakfast taco, KIND granola bar and bottomless coffee. Outdoor concerts at Auditorium shores. March 14-16th. This annual concert series is free and open to the public. No wrist-band is required but you do have to register for a guest pass. An added bonus is the early set times so you can catch some live music and still be home for bedtime. Line up and guest pass info can be found here.

Cherryfest/Unofficial SXSW party at Cherrywood Coffeehouse. This free event offers a full line up of music starting at 12:15 p.m. on Friday March 15th. All ages welcome. More information can be found here.

Thicket Live Music Series. This family-friendly food Trailer Park will be offering a free day-long music event on Saturday March 16th. For more information and full line up click here.

Rock and Read at the Domain. March 16th from 2-6 p.m. This annual book and music festival offers free fun activities for the whole family.  More information can be found here.
