Summer may be coming to a close but it’s still a million degrees in Austin! Check out these Shaded Playgrounds in North Austin to fuel the end of your Summer fun in the shade.

Austin
- Alderbrook Pocket Park 12444 Lamplight Village Ave, Austin, TX 78758 – This shaded fave even has a butterfly garden! Street parking available
- Robinson Park 13340 Humphrey Drive (at Amasia)- Connected to Rattan Creek and Springwoods Park by walking trails. I find that Robinson is less croweded of the three so I always choose to go there. It has shaded pavilions and tons of natural shade from the gorgeous trees. Street Parking
Cedar Park
- Heppner Bend Park 1208 Heppner Dr, Cedar Park- What did we do before sun shades at playgrounds? This bare bones playground gets the job done.
- Heritage Park 875 Quest Parkway- Heritage Oak Park is a charming 1 acre park containing Cedar Park’s beloved 400 year-old oak Tree. This tree stands a lofty fifty-seven feet tall with a spread of eighty feet. Come to the park in December to see it illuminated with thousands of lights for the holiday season.
- Quest Village Park 614 Stallion Dr, Cedar Park – This shady neighborhood park has a walking trail, too!
- Champion Park 3830 Brushy Creek Rd, Cedar Park- Champion Park offers lots of open space, picnic tables, restrooms, parking, fitness area, a covered children’s play area with castings of dinosaur bones to discover, a playscape and swings, and specially designed boulders for climbing.
- Elizabeth Milburn Park 1901 Sun Chase Blvd, Cedar Park- They even have a covered basketball court!
Round Rock
- All Abilities Park 151 N A W Grimes Blvd, Round Rock- This one is EVERYONE’S favorite. This large gated park includes a variety of play opportunities designed to stimulate and encourage the development of several skill sets such as gross and fine motor skills, social interaction, sense of discovery, creativity and strengthening exercises. We love the “Nature Pod” section for exploration and shade!Round Rock Memorial Park 600 N Lee St, Round Rock– Memorial Park consists of 14.11 acres of land. This park provides a cool and shaded atmosphere with the abundance of trees. The 0.60 mile trail runs alongside Brushy Creek, which provides a stimulating view for any runner, walker, or bike rider. Follow the trail to see the legendary “Round Rock” that can be seen in Brushy Creek. For the softball players out there, Memorial Park offers a softball field along with a full concession stand. Parking is available just outside the field and only a few steps away from the playground. Park goers can also enjoy other amenities such as picnic tables, grills, and drinking fountains.

Wells Branch
- Katherine Flischer Park 3000 Shoreline Drive-The KF Park playground is a heavily shaded playground with a giant playhouse, and a number of other playful amenities.
Pflugerville
- Wuthrich Park 99 Mountain View Dr- Shade sail coming in clutch!
- Mountain Creek 1108 S 10th Street- Simple playscape under shade featuring a beautiful walking trail
- Northeast Metro Park 15500 Sun Light Near Way- Ok, this is the boss park. You can find FOUR playgrounds, a skatepark, bmx course and more!
- Royal Pointe Park 18712 Candace Loop
- Windermere Park 16800 Gower Street – Large playscape under shade sail
- Geneva’s Park 1622 Royal Ascot Drive
- Bohls Park 200 Immanuel Road- This one is super fun and I can’t wait for the kiddos to get just a litttttle bigger so we can explore the Skate Spot!
