Yoga, Pilates, and cycling oh my! This is what comes to mind when thinking about all the possibilities of group fitness studios in Austin. There are hundreds of amazing options in the city but it can be overwhelming trying to find the best place for you.Â
That’s why I made this list! I hope it inspires you to get out of your comfort zone, find an amazing community, and crush your health and fitness goals.
Know before you book:Â
- Many fitness studios have a free trial class! Use that as an opportunity to find the perfect place for you.Â
- Have commitment issues? See if the place you’re headed to is included in Class Pass! It’s the perfect membership for anybody who likes variety in their workout routine.Â
- Some boutique studios offer multiple group classes under one roof! Check out the end of the list for those studios.Â
- Have fun! Exercise doesn’t have to be boring, intimidating, or scary. Pick a studio, put your best sneaker forward and just have fun!
Cycle Studios
Ummm.. have you ever danced while cycling? Because it’s probably some of the most fun you’ll ever have riding a stationary bike. You may have a sore booty after your first ride, but it’s worth it if you enjoy small rooms, dim lights, and loud music. It’s like a club scene for grownups but instead of working your way into a horrible hang-over, you burn hundreds of calories & get sculpted arms. Take a spin class!
Pilates
I just recently took my first pilates class this year (shout out to FS8 SoCo) and it was so much fun! I was familiar with the functional exercises, but was totally new to the reformer. Don’t be intimidated by the ropes, springs, & moving board. If you’re attending a pilates class at a boutique gym (like any of the ones listed below) they’ll know you’re new and you’ll get the downlow before class on how to use the reformer.
Boxing & Kickboxing
Boxing- the ultimate way to let off some steam! Austin has some fantastic group fitness boxing and kickboxing classes. There are even some women’s only classes! If that isn’t a great idea for a girls night!
Yoga
Yoga has to be one of Austin’s most popular activities! There are probably over 100 yoga studios in Austin. Each with its’ own style & flare. No matter if you like your yoga hot, outdoors, or even with baby goat- you’ll find it here in Austin.Â
Shaktia Yoga & Holistic Wellness
Functional Fitness, Circuit Training, and Fusion Workouts
Functional fitness- one of my favorite ways to train! Exercising should be a way of life. And if you’re not training for a specific goal (weight loss, muscle gain, running a marathon, etc.) train for life! Train to have good energy levels, to play with your kids, to go for a walk, to be able to carry all of your groceries into the house while carrying the baby. Functional fitness is a great way to get back to the basics, maintain fitness, and be ready to take on whatever life throws at you.Â
Barre
This ballet inspired workout is sure to get muscles you didn’t know you had burning. You’ll also get to familiar with a cute little squishy ball and it may or may not become your worst enemy. I’m just kidding, barre is totally awesome. Who knows- it may feed your inner child working with a ballet bar.Â
Dance & Aerial Arts
Dance speaks for itself. Dancing is a great way to exercise, balance your nervous system, & heck even make you let loose and feel sexy in your beautiful Mamma body. In the city you’ll find cardio dance, pole dancing, aerial arts, hip-hop, ballet, and more! Here are some awesome Austin based dance studios for beginners to experts.

Lagree expands on the core concepts of pilates and uses a cool machine called a megaformer! Do you like to climbing? Then lagree is for you!Â

It doesn’t if you like to row on or off the water- there’s a class for you!Â
Multi-Class Studios
So maybe you don’t want to commit to just one type of class and you also don’t want to go to a big box gym. Going to a studio that offers different types of fitness classes might be the answer! Check out these great local spots with huge offerings!
