I think I might turn into an iFly junkie.  That girl above with a big smile on her face?  That’s me!  The iFly experience was the best two minutes in my life (aside from the obvious of marrying the man of my dreams, having two kiddos, etc). But, I’m trying to give you some perspective — It.Was.Awesome. And I’m terrified of heights and falling and closed spaces.

What is iFly? From their website (because they say it best): “iFLY is an indoor skydiving experience that creates true free fall conditions, just like skydiving, without having to jump out of an airplane. iFLY’s vertical wind tunnel generates 1600 horse power from 4 powerful fans, creating a wall-to-wall cushion of air on which you can safely float. There’s no parachute, no jumping, and nothing attaching you to planet Earth. It’s just you and the air, and it’s the most incredible adrenaline rush.”

It was the perfect date night! The entire experience takes about an hour — from check in, to signing the waivers, to watching the video, meeting your flight instructor and getting on your gear and taking two one-minute flights!  They teach you hand signals and help with your positioning so that you are truly flying!

The only downside is that it’s pretty darn expensive. We went with a group of 12 friends and got a special rate of $600 … which is about $50 each before taxes. There’s a family package for 5 people for $270 or about $54 each before taxes. Just want to try it on your own, it will run you close to $60. But I’m telling you, it was worth every single penny. I giggled and smiled the entire time.

They also take photographs of you and take a video. You can read all about it here: http://austin.iflyworld.com/

PS: Don’t forget to give your instructor a tip! After your group goes, they do an awesome show!
PPS:  If you wear heels, they will provide you with shoes but bring a pair of socks.
PPPS:  Don’t wear any jewelry.   And if you have long hair, put it in a bun and bring a brush if you are going to dinner afterwards … my hair was a tangly mess!

and if you go, tell us all about it!!
