Moonshine is one of my favorite restaurants on any day for good ol’ home cooking…why not spend Thanksgiving at a place that tastes like your mom cooked it all anyway?Wash it down with one of their delicious Bloody Marys. They are open 10am to 4pm and will be serving a buffet for $26. No reservations accepted.

24 Diner

Don’t let the name “diner” fool you — this isn’t a Denny’s. Yet it is open 24 hours, so it is open on Thanksgiving — it starts at 10:30 a.m. Enjoy the locally-sourced deliciousness that follows, including bacon-braised collard greens and house-cured ham. No reservations are taken.

Hoover’s Cooking

This Austin institution is bringing comfort food to the table on Thanksgiving. They are open 11am to 7pm, but with no reservations being taken. If you don’t want to wait though, they are selling turkey, side dishes and desserts in bulk to take home and reheat.

Priding itself on being open 365 days a year since it opened, Threadgill’s most certainly will feed you and your family. They are open from 10 am to 10 pm. No reservations are taken.

Something Fancy

Thanksgiving Brunch is offered from 11am to 2pm with their famous “Milk Punch,” Turkey, Dressing, and plenty of other goodies. Plus there are peacocks roaming around the historic property. It costs $72 per person.

This sophisticated restaurant offers a special Thanksgiving menu for the festivities. Featured items include the Ancho Smoked Wild Turkey and Venison Prosciutto.

Carillon

This meal is one your family will be talking about for years. Hosting their annual buffet, there are four different seatings and an exorbitant selection of food. The price runs from $65 for adults, $19.95 for kids 6-12, but free for kids 5 and under.

Ruth’s Chris

The fixed menu offers items such as Gumbo, Sausage and Herb Stuffing, and Pumpkin Cheesecake. The price per person is $39.95 to $41.95 and the children’s menu is $12.95.

TRIO

Served from 11:00am to 8:00 pm, the Thanksgiving Buffet is $85 per adult and $35 per child. Menu items such as the made-to-order omelette station, farm-to-table salad bar, and jalapeño cornbread makes my mouth water already.

Saluti! This Italian chain is open on Thanksgiving with (of course) a family-style feast to serve. If you’re looking for Italian-styled celebration join in the fun there.

Kobe Japanese Steakhouse

Looking for something outside the regular old turkey? How about hibachi fun?! Kobe is open Thanksgiving from 11:30am to 8pm — all regular dinner menu is available all day.

Russian House

They are open the whole day from 11am-11pm with the full Russian menu available, but also a special Thanksgiving platter (turkey, ham, mashed potato, bean strings, berry sauce) offered. And if you’re into it Thursdays they also offer Vodka Flights ALL Night.
