The Moments That Define Us

Those ‘pinch-me’ moments.  You know the ones.  The ones where you’re sitting in a somewhat relaxed state watching your children play.  The ones when you’re on a hot beach and in the not so distant air is the smell of sea and the sound of waves.  And you mustn’t forget the ones that include the taste of a fresh-baked, still warm cookie that only grandmother could have made.

Yep, those.  Those are the moments that make up a happy, unparalleled life for me.

As I type this, I’m sitting under the California sunset, watching my children play in the bubbling hot tub while sipping on a regional glass of perfectly chilled rose.  And through the sound of their laughter and their endless creative stories make me continuously smile, and this divine view of the Palm Springs’ mountains at sunset isn’t half bad either, I am struck by how happy this trifecta of things has made me.  How can life be this good?  How and why did these things perfectly align to make an endless smile beam across my face?

I am grateful for so much in my life.  And I do not say it enough.  I do not tell friends or family enough.

But as the pinch-me moments continue to occur, I am reminded just how amazing and short-lived our lives really are.  We are such a small moment in time.

I am indebted to the pinch-me moments.  Without them life continues to move, live and breathe, and I forget to take a moment to really, truly appreciate it all.  Those pinch-me moments remind me to snap out of the everyday monotony and admire, if even for a brief trifecta, the beauty that is candid childhood, life, love, friendship, family.

I am thankful to be read by you.  I am thankful for the opportunity to do so.  I am thankful for my family, my mama tribe, my ride-or-dies, my health, the opportunity to stay-at-home with my children…

Here’s to wishing you a year full of beautiful pinch-me moments.

Please share your pinch-me moments in our comments. We love connecting with you!
