Local Spots Where Kids Can Eat Free!
My husband and I are parents to two toddlers, so going out to dinner with the kids is usually pretty rough. The last time the four of us went out for Tex-Mex, I ended up shoveling enchiladas into my mouth while my 2 year-old rubbed his bean covered hands through my hair and licked my face. The 3 year-old was under the booth, munching on the food he had thrown the floor.
Still, my husband and I put ourselves through this mayhem from time to time when we just don’t feel like cooking a meal that will inevitably end up mostly on the floor and in the trash. Sometimes we also want someone else to clean up our kids mess, even if it means leaving a generous tip. It sweetens the deal if we can find a place where our kids can eat for free.
If you find yourself in a similar predicament, here is a list of local Austin-area restaurants that offer free food for the kiddos. Just don’t forget the gratuity if your children are as rowdy as mine!
Blue Corn Harvest (all locations) – Kids eat free all day long on Mondays. One free kids meal can be ordered per adult entrée purchased.
Central Market North Lamar – After 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, children eat free withd the purchase of an adult entrée. This includes any meal from the Kids Menu.
Central Market Westgate – On Wednesday’s after 5 p.m., kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entrée. This includes any meal from the Kids Menu.
Cruzteca Mexican Kitchen offers free kid meals on Wednesdays with the purchase of an adult entree.
Estancia Brazilian Steakhouse – Children under 6 eat free every day and children 7-12 years old can eat for ½ price.
Kerbey Lane Café (all locations) – Every Tuesday kids eat free all day! One free kids meal is provided with the purchase of one adult entrée.
Mr. Gatti’s Pizza (all locations) – Kids 3 and under eat free every day! Plus, kids 3-12 years-old can get the buffet for a discounted rate of $5.99/child.
Olive & June – Sundays kids 12 and under can get free spaghetti or rigatoni with pomodoro or butter sauce free with the purchase of one adult entrée.
Opal Divine’s – Kids eat free for Saturday brunch until 3 p.m. After 3 p.m., it’s 50% off for kids the rest of the day (one discounted kids meal per adult entrée purchased).
Pluckers (all locations) – Kids eat free on Tuesdays with the purchase of an adult meal.
Salt Lick (Round Rock and Driftwood locations) – With the purchase of an adult family style dinner, kids under 3 eat free everyday! The rest of the kids under 10 years old can eat for $9.95.
Slab (both locations) – On Wednesdays from 4-9 p.m., kids eat free.
Texadelphia (both locations) – Monday-Wednesday 4 p.m. to close kids 12 and under eat free.
Zen (West Anderson Lane location) – All day on Saturdays and Sundays kids eat free off of the Kids Menu.
Z’Tejas (both locations) – Every Sunday evening after 3 p.m., kids can get a free kids meal with the purchase of an adult entrée.
ZuZu’s Handmade Kitchen – Monday- Thursday 5-9 p.m., with the purchase of 1 adult meal you can get up to 2 kids meals.
