Everytime I think of finding amazing coffee, I remember the scene in the movie ELF. Buddy is so excited to finally find ‘The Worlds Best Cup of Coffee!’ The Lakeway area, may not be straight out of a Will Ferrell movie, but there are some mighty fine cups of joe in west Austin. I set out to find Lakeway’s BEST Coffee!

When looking for the best, I had a few criteria….that MAY have had a little more than coffee on the agenda. To start, as a busy Mom, when I am looking for a place to grab coffee, I am looking for either a place that I can take my girls to if needed OR a place that is calm and quiet where I can find a moment of zen.

Recently, I have checked out MorninGlory, Runaway Luna, Vivel Crepes & Coffee and Winston’s. All four locations are located North of Highway 71 and West of FM 2244 (Bee Cave Parkway). Additionally, as a full time employee of Lake Travis ISD, I have had the pleasure of being served by the Cottage Cafe.

MorninGlory was a refreshing treat. I had some Mama time and met a friend for brunch. I had heard amazing things about their beet latte, so I gave that a try. Not only was it gorgeous, but it had a rich and delicious taste. The brunch items were also delicious. My server, Derrick, was attentive and did an amazing job explaining the differences in their drinks. It was fun to learn about how they make their own “in house” coffee blends and syrups. MorninGlory is located on the corner of Hwy 620 N and Lohmanns Crossing Road.

Runaway Luna is my go-to for a quiet cup of coffee and pastry, while my girls are at dance class. Runaway Luna is located in the Hill Country Galleria and is an Australian style coffeehouse and lifestyle boutique. My most favorite item to order, and their most popular, is the Honeycomb latte. Other customer favorites are the tumeric latte and moon milk latte. I also always grab a sweet treat from their freshly made selection.

Next up is Vivel Crepes & Coffee. Owners Salma and Ali have done an amazing job with their menu and customer service. The staff was exceptional with helping me make selections and with recommendations based on my taste. While dining at Vivel, I took my teen daughter for some one on one time. She enjoyed a nutella crepe and vanilla gelato. I had berry french toast and tried two different (and amazing) drinks! The white raspberry mocha and toasted almond latte were heavenly.

Winston’s is nestled in the heart of Lakeway, off of Bee Creek Road. Winston’s is a WINNER for me, not just for the delicious drinks and eats, but because they have a playground for the kiddos! My youngest daughter and I met some friends for a snack and playdate. The littles enjoyed kids cocoa and I enjoyed a lavender latte. The smooth taste is something I will order again, for sure. It was pleasant that my friend and I were able to chat, while the kids played. Winston’s also serves pizza, wine and baked goods.

The Cottage Cafe, is a small operation, run by students in the Lake Travis ISD 18+ Program. The students serve up coffee and tea at various district events. The purpose of the Cottage Cafe is to teach students about social skills, job skills, work with money and learn the workings of a small business.
