Have you ever received mail in your mailbox from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital? We receive mail all the time and donate to St. Jude whenever we can, but after watching the movie “The Heart of Christmas”, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to throw the mail away without sending a check first.

The Heart of Christmas is inspired by a true story based on a tiny two year old named, Dax. This is a story about hope, love, faith, community, and of course, Christmas! I have a two year old so this movie was deeply difficult for me to watch. To add fuel to the fire, I’m 5 months pregnant and emotional. I’m pretty sure I was weeping within the first 15 minutes. I don’t have to tell you the synopsis for you to put two and two together… St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and a two year old named, Dax. I think you get it, right? Regardless, you HAVE to watch this movie… not only will it inspire you, but it will make you even more grateful for your children’s health.
Yes, The Heart of Christmas is heart wrenching and the story of Dax is emotional; however, this story is many children’s, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friend’s, etc. reality. So many children will be celebrating Christmas early this year just to have the chance to have a Christmas and many children will celebrate Christmas from their beds at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

I am a retired Oncology nurse, I worked at our local hospital caring for adults who had cancer. I also have cared for many of my own family members who had cancer and know how important it is to have treatment that fights cancer. The research St.Judes is doing is very important in finding treatment and a cure for cancer and making the lives of these children and their families easier.
