Hello! My name is Jessica Cherry and I have been living in the Austin area since 1998. I am originally from Brownsville, TX, on the border by the sea! I have been married to my amazing husband Phillip who works at UT and is an instructor. We have been married for 10 years (a big milestone!) and we have two small children together, Hawkins (2016) and Kalysta (2018). We also have a pug named Chulo who loves to cuddle, snore and is the sweetest pug ever!

I am completing my MBA degree this year and will be starting my PhD program in Organizational Leadership this fall which I am super excited about! I have a professional background in non-profit, higher education, and meeting and event planning.

After the birth of my first child, I started writing about my experience with pregnancy, my new role in motherhood and how I felt about all of it. I founded Life of a Cherry Wife immediately after my first post which went viral, and from there I found my love for writing! I now write about family, food, fashion and Latina life. I have a passion for sharing my experiences, recipes, fun fashion finds and anything else I come across! You can see all my writing at Life of a Cherry Wife.

My husband and I love exploring Austin and the surrounding areas with our two children. There is always so much to see and do! We get so excited when we find new hidden gems around here. When we are not exploring the town, my husband and I love to cook together and have friendly competitions on who is a better cook. I will say, he always has to one-up me in that department.

We also bought an RV last year, so you may find us exploring the big state of Texas! Follow me at @lifeofacherrywife to see all our adventures, it is an incredibly fun time and a learning process for us too!

When I am not with my family, I love meeting my girlfriends for some margaritas and girl talk. I also love hosting bar-b-que get togethers and will make any excuse to plan them. I am that friend that tells you just to come over with a smile and I will handle the rest. It is another passion of mine, so much that I actually have both a degree and certification specializing in Meeting and Event Planning! I have professionally planned large galas, music festivals, networking events, and even interned at a local rodeo, but my favorite planning is last minute planning among friends.

I genuinely believe life is what you make of it. I love manifesting and I firmly believe you can make your wildest dreams come true if you work for them. I absolutely love reading self-help books and my favorite author is Dr. Joe Dispenza. I am also proud that I am part of the 4% of Latina women earning a graduate degree and will be less than 1% of Latina women with a PhD level degree. This is a huge achievement of mine because I am working on my degrees while being a mother and raising small children. You can be a mother and still reach all of your goals too!
