For my kids school Christmas parties this week, we are going with a snowman theme and purchased this adorable printable party pack from Shindigs parties on etsy.  If you saw my Thanksgiving post, you saw just a taste of how much I love printable party packs – they are so easy!!

So the centerpiece to our tables is going to be this little Frosty the Snowman – he stands about 30 inches tall and even though he looks complicated, he was SO easy!!  I promise, the hardest part was actually buying all of the supplies!

Materials needed:

-18” Styrofoam ball
-8” Styrofoam ball
-Styrofoam disc
-Wooden dowel, cut or broken down to be as tall as the snowman
-Hot glue
-Assorted buttons – I used turquoise and black
-Stiff orange felt (found in the craft section, not fabric section)
-Dress up top hat (found this at Hobby Lobby)
-Scrap fabric
-Pom pom balls

First, put a ton of hot glue in the middle of the Styrofoam disc and then set your largest ball on top.  Push the wooden dowel through the top of the ball and all the way through the bottom of the disc.  Push the smaller Styrofoam ball on the wooden dowel.

Now comes the fun part – embellishing!

Use your hot glue to affix the buttons to the tummy and face.  I drew a smile first so I could follow it with the buttons and not let it lose shape.

For the scarf, I literally just trimmed my scrap fabric with pinking shears to prevent fraying, draped it around and secured it with sewing pins.  Then I hot glued the pom poms onto the edges.  I also saw some adorable sparkly fringe at Hobby Lobby that would be really cute!

Next is the nose – just cut a triangle with a curved bottom out of the stiff felt and hot glue the straight edges together.  Then, hot glue it to the face!  Easy peasy.

Last, put his little top hat on and if you want, embellish it.  I chose to do little rosettes with some more scrap fabric.  For those, cut a strip of fabric and tie it in a knot at one end.  Start rolling your fabric around the knot, twisting the fabric as you go – hot glue every few twists and especially at the end.  Affix it to your hat with hot glue.

Last, give this little man some arms – I used candy canes, but sticks from the yard would work just as well!

And finally, stand back and admire your work!
