Back to the ole baby registy.  Like we’ve said before, walking into Babies R Us or Bye Bye Baby is BEYOND overwhelming.  One of the “must haves” on all baby registries is a Diaper Genie or some form of dirty diaper disposal.

We registered for the Diaper Genie Elite II.  They range between $28.00 and $35.00 and most come with one set of the inserts.  A box of three inserts will run around $20.

While the Diaper Genie still lives in Caroline’s room…I do not think it’s a MUST HAVE like most registry web sites will suggest.  Yes, poopy diapers are stinky once your little one is on solids and yes, having dirty diapers in a low hanging pail is a possible catastrophe once your child is mobile BUT I’m 90% condifent that the diaper stench would stay away from my nostrils in a regular trashcan with a lid. And if we had gone with a regular trash can, we’d have an extra trash can when Caroline is potty trained.

Diaper Genies are not a complete waste of money but I don’t think they’re absolutely necessary.

  1. I agree that its not necessary – I thought it was a waste of money! It is easier and just as fast to take a dirty diaper out to the trash in the garage – and it keeps your house smelling fresh!
