FYI…Our Worth it Wednesday series will now be posting every other Wednesday!

Today, I will cover a topic that is a little T.M.I….but it is a fact of life for us ladies. Period. Some don’t mind it, others hate it with a passion, I am more on the “hating it” side. It is just a pain in the ars to have to deal with. I am not on any type of birth control (nor do I plan to be for many reasons which is a whole other blog topic HA) which means for me that my periods are on the heavier side with lots of cramping and other stupid symptoms.

I hate wearing pads and half the time tampons make me cramp soooo much worse than I already do from just having Flo around. Reality is that most of the time for the 2-4 day of my period I have to wear both, especially at night.

Well, while I totally LOVE being “green” and environmentally conscience {which was the original reason for me making this purchase} I also love a product that makes my life easier…hello…I have 3 kids and a hubby to take care of. I bought The Diva Cup about 5 years ago and have loved it from the first second time I used it.

It is a small un-pigmented silicone cup that is inserted vaginally {duh}….it catches your cycle and can be worn up to 12 hours. It hold 1 oz of fluid and most women have 1-1.4 ounces in an entire cycle. {I know this is a topic easily gagged over, so please feel free to gag away;)} You simply remove the cup wash it, and re-insert. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! My 2 favorite things about The Diva Cup are that it doesn’t leak, and I don’t cramp from having it in the way I do with tampons. I also think it is so great while working out too.

Check out The Diva Cup website to get all the info you need. I don’t want to go into too much detail because we don’t want our readers too grossed out to come back tomorrow haha. There are 2 versions: The Diva Cup 1 and 2…#1 is for those under 30 and that have not had children, so that leaves the #2 model for those over 30 and/or those with children. I guess that is the polite way of reminding some of us that our hoo-ha’s are not what they used to be. Reality bites some times.

Needless to say, I think this is a product that is definitely worth it! It is free of dyes, BPA, PVC, plus other toxic stuff, it is affordable {easily cheaper than “Girl Scout” supplies over a while}, 12 hours leak free, reusable, and less cramps {at least for me anyway}!

You can purchase it at local retailers such as: H.E.B., Central Market, Sprouts, plus a few online stores.

Do you have The Diva Cup? Would you be willing to try it?

  1. I saw another mommy blogger tweet about it, and I honestly thought it was some type of drink cup. Ha! Now reading what it is…I need it. Well, obviously not right now or for many more months given I didn’t get a period again until Trent was 8 months old and hoping to go longer with Baby Gurl, but this sounds awesome. I don’t take BC either and that definitely does have a negative impact on your period (although far outweighed by all the positives of not taking BC), so you can bet I will be trying this!

  2. OMG!!! I’m dying over here! I’ve seen this on the calendar for some time now and just assumed it was a fancy cup for your kiddo to drink from! BOY was I surprised when I started reading, LOL! Hmmmm, I’m definitely intrigued, but I’m not sure enough to try it. Interesting, very interesting 🙂

    • Okay…I am cracking up! I can just see your face while reading this post and can only imagine Vanessa’s reaction 🙂 HAHA!

  3. I’m so bummed- I was so excited to get one but honestly it didn’t feel comfortable with my IUD. I’ll try again if I take out my IUD, but that’s a totally other topic. 😉

PS– Yes, I was totally insulted I was a size 2! Come ON! Couldn’t we call the sizes like “Awesome Vag” and “Super Awesome Vag”? I’m totally a size “Super Awesome Vag.” Sounds better, right??

    • OMG…..I am laughing so hard right now!!!! Hell yes, I totally think it should be Super Awesome Vag….I mean we did have babies right?!? Awesome Vag’s ain’t got nothing on us 😉 Seriously…..freaking hilarious!

  4. Definitely creative branding on naming that one. I definitely thought Diva Cup was a special sippy wine glass, which I am now totally going to invent. I may try this out, too, just so I can ask my husband if my Diva Cup is showing…
