Halloween Crafts

As we creeeeeeeeep into fall, the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer. Fill those long, dark, haunted evenings with these fun, easy-to-do Halloween crafts!

 

Pumpkin Mason Jar

Materials

  • Short Mason jar with wide-mouth lid
  • Orange acrylic paint
  • Coiled floral wire
  • Kraft paper
  • Scissors
  • Paint brush

Instructions

  1. Paint Mason jar with a layer of orange acrylic paint. Let dry. Paint multiple layers if needed. Let dry between layers.
  2. Trace the outside of the lid onto a piece of Kraft paper. Cut out and place inside the lid.
  3. Cut a length of coiled floral wire and twist around finger to create a curly stem. Attach to the outside of the lid.
  4. Fill with your favorite Halloween candy.

 

Glow Stick Broomsticks

Materials

  • Glow stick bracelets
  • Twine
  • Kraft paper
  • Double-sided tape
  • Card stock or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch

Instructions

  1. Cut a piece of Kraft paper to 4.75” x 3.5”. Draw a line to use as a guide for cut marks.
  2. Cut out thin strips of paper up to the pencil line.
  3. Secure one of the plastic pieces to the top end of the glow stick.
  4. Add a long strip of double-sided tape to the edge of the Kraft paper. Position the glow stick so the end of it is even with the paper.
  5. Roll the paper tightly around the glow stick.
  6. Cut a tag shape from the card stock or construction paper. Write “Happy Halloween” on the tag. Poke a hole through the tag with a pencil or hole punch. Slip a piece of twine into the hole and attach the tag to the part of the broom where the paper meets the glow stick.

 

Popsicle Stick Frankenstein Magnet

Materials

  • Craft sticks (wide)
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Googly eyes
  • Card stock or construction paper
  • Hot glue gun/glue
  • Elmer’s glue
  • Magnets

Instructions

  1. Use Elmer’s glue to glue 5 (five) wide craft sticks to the card stock or cardboard. Cut the backing so it is smaller than the craft sticks glued together.
  2. Paint the craft sticks using green paint. Let dry.
  3. Paint Frankenstein’s hair, eyebrows, cuts, and mouth using black paint. Let dry.
  4. Glue googly eyes using hot glue gun.
  5. Attach magnets to the back of Frankenstein using hot glue gun or other adhesive.

 

Boo Door Decor

Materials

  • Wooden letters: B, O, O
  • Glitter ribbon
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Paint brush

Instructions

  1. Paint the letters using black acrylic paint. Let dry.
  2. Tie a bow using glitter ribbon onto the top of the “B”. Tie the letters together with the ribbon.
  3. Hang using an over-the-door hanger.

 

Mini Halloween Pinata

Materials

  • Toilet paper roll
  • Googly eyes
  • White crepe paper (streamers)
  • Double-sided tape
  • Card stock or construction paper
  • Hot glue gun/glue
  • Twine
  • Small toys and/or candy
  • Hole punch
  • Pencil

Instructions

  1. Apply a strip of double-sided tape to the edge of the tube. Use the tape to secure a piece of the streamer in place.
  2. Gather a few small toys and candy pieces to fit in the mini pinata.
  3. Cut a tag shape from the card stock or construction paper. Write “Happy Halloween” on the tag. Poke a hole through the tag using a pencil or hole punch. Slip a piece of twine into the hole and tie ends together.
  4. Apply a strip of double-sided tape to the other edge of the tube. Slip the twine into the tube so the tag hangs out of the end of the tube. Use the tape to secure a piece of the streamer in place.
  5. Hot glue googly eyes to the toilet paper roll. Wrap white crepe paper around the tube to create a mummy. Secure with tape.
  6. Pull the tag to break the pinata!

 

Popsicle Stick Webs

Materials

  • Silver acrylic paint
  • Craft sticks (3)
  • Glue (hot glue, super glue, etc.)
  • White yarn (about 2 yards)
  • Plastic spider(s)

Instructions

  1. Paint 3 (three) craft sticks silver. Let dry.
  2. Glue together at the center to form an asterisk.
  3. Tie one end of a length of yard to the center of the sticks.
  4. Wrap it around the other spokes. Move outward, wrapping the sticks.
  5. Tie off the yarn. Add a plastic spider.

 

Lollipop Ghost

Materials

  • Kleenex tissues
  • Round lollipops (Tootsie Pops, Blow Pops, etc.)
  • Black Sharpie marker
  • Tiny hair elastics (black or clear
  • Thin orange and black ribbon

Instructions

  1. Fold one piece of tissue into fourths. Lay out a full-sized piece of tissue. Place the quarter piece of tissue in the center of the full-sized piece of tissue.
  2. Lay the lollipop in the center of the quarter-sized piece of tissue. Bunch the tissue paper over the lollipop.
  3. Stretch the hair elastic over the top to hold the tissue in place.
  4. Use the black Sharpie marker to draw to eyes and mouth on the ghost.
  5. Cut a foot-long piece of orange ribbon and a foot-long piece of black ribbon. Wrap it around the hair elastic and tie it in a bow.

 

Pipe Cleaner Spiders

Materials

  • Black pipe cleaners (5)
  • Black pony beads (13)
  • Orange pony beads (32)
  • Scissors

Instructions

  1. Slide 7 (seven) pony beads to the middle of a black pipe cleaner. Fold in half. Slide both ends through another pony bead, pushing it up to the other beads to form the back section of the spider.
  2. Fold two pipe cleaners in half and push through the last bead strung.
  3. Slide three black pony beads on one end.
  4. Slide two black pony beads on the other end and then through the third bead on the other side to form the head.
  5. Wrap a pipe cleaner above and a pipe cleaner below the middle bead.
  6. Trim extra pipe cleaner used to form the head bending the ends to secure the beads.
  7. String four orange beads on each leg. Shape the legs.
