I’m totally that mom that thinks technology shouldn’t be in the hands of children….I’m the mom that doesn’t understand why a 13 year old needs a cell phone. After all, I had a pager. If my mom needed me she would page 9-1-1. If my High School boyfriend wanted to send a love note he sent 1-4-3 (for those of you who are pager illiterate that means “I {1 letter} LOVE {4 letters} YOU {3 letters}). I know I know…times have changed and I need to get with the program. Before I know it Lincoln will be teaching me how to fix my recent Outlook problem that I had and will own better technology than me! Heck he already looks at the phone when I’m talking waiting for someone to appear because he’s so darn used to FaceTime. I degress…

Programs like Wonder Space weren’t available in my hay day of the Oregon Trail Game and I feel fortunate that programs that are technology driven are now offered to even 5 year olds! Lincoln is only a few years away from 5 {YIKES} and I’m excited to know there are option for his wondrous mind should technology tickle his fancy.

Wonder-Space Computer and Technology Camp services children ages 5-17 through a variety of techno based courses. They offer a week long program, where children can learn the fundamentals in topics of their choosing from 8:30am – 5:00 pm. Their courses cover all preferences from the engineer in training to the Photoshop expert!

This upcoming summer they have revamped the majority of their curriculum to give their 2012 campers a leg up on what’s new in game design and app building. Some of their most popular courses are; 2D Game Design- where your child will learn how to create their very own video game-, Build an App for Android and iproducts, Build a Computer, Robotics, Digital Photography and Editing and so much more! It is common for their campers to have so much fun that they never want to go home! And excitedly that IS an option… They have overnight options available in their Austin and D.C. (which I’m aware we are far from, but throwin’ it out there) locations!

Whew! Lincoln doesn’t quite qualify for Wonder Space’s program, but I feel incredibly excited about what the future holds for my possible technological tiny expert. Heck I was on the phone with a computer support company today for 20 minutes that probably thought I was a total idiot by the end of the conversation…the URL changed on my shortcut which was giving me an error message when I clicked it. Hopefully I can rely on Lincoln one day and avoid embarrassing support calls thanks to programs like Wonder Space!

Let Austin Moms Blog know if you’re interested in learning more about Wonder Space’s programs or visit them directly! And for those AMB followers that aren’t in Austin… that’s okay, because Wonder Space also has locations in Houston, The Woodlands, Dallas, Chicago, and Washington DC!!!
